Automatic Generation of the Domain Module from Electronic Textbooks: Method and Validation

 

ABSTRACT

 

Technology-supported learning systems have proved to be helpful in many learning situations. These systems require an appropriate representation of the knowledge to be learned, the Domain Module. The authoring of the Domain Module is cost and labor intensive, but its development cost might be lightened by profiting from semiautomatic Domain Module authoring techniques and promoting knowledge reuse. DOM-Sortze is a system that uses natural language processing techniques, heuristic reasoning, and ontology’s for the semiautomatic construction of the Domain Module from electronic textbooks. The Domain Module enables either the students to learn by themselves, in the case of exploratory learning systems, or to guide students through the learning process in instructive TSLSs. An incomplete Domain Module may result in a system that is only able to provide part of the instruction required in the domain.

The automatic or semiautomatic generation of the Domain Module been rarely addressed.

 

Most ontology learning approaches combine many resources or are restricted to certain particular domain.

PROPOSED CONCEPT:-

The generation of the LDO is evaluated based on the amount of automatically gathered knowledge.

DOM-Sortze, a system for the semiautomatic generation of the Domain Module from electronic textbooks.

Natural Language processing(NLP)

TECHNIQUE DEFINITION:-

Domain Module authoring techniques and promoting knowledge reuse.

 

 

The Domain Module enables either the students to learn by themselves, in the case of exploratory learning systems, or to guide students through the learning process in instructive TSLSs.

TECHNIQUE DEFINITION:-

Natural language processing (NLP) and heuristic reasoning to achieve the   semiautomatic generation of the Domain Module.

The Domain Module encodes knowledge at two different levels, the learning domain ontology (LDO) and the set of LOs.    

DRAWBACKS:-

We can’t do the automatic process for the electronic books.
